Introducing the “What is” series, where FSJ members explore the clubs and organizations around campus and answer the big question, “What is that?” To start, let’s answer “What is the FSJ?”
The Front Street Journal is the student newspaper of Reading Area Community College. Its mission is to provide a forum for the free exchange of ideas and information among all members of the college community. The strength of the club is found in the expertise, teamwork, and dedication of its members.
The current officers of the club are: Al Walentis, Faculty Advisor; Laura Ramsey, Co-Editor; Anastasia Tomko, Co-Editor; Judith Croteau, Secretary/Treasurer; and Amie Croteau, Webmaster.
The Front Street Journal has been a club since before 2009.
The Front Street Journal is always looking for new members to contribute and be a part of the team environment. This club requires skills that an employer would ask for, and therefore being a member of the Front Street Journal would be a great resume addition. The Front Street Journal participates in two public service projects per semester to give back to the community.
The Front Street Journals values, as stated in the FSJ Constitution are ” To provide a voice representative of the student body; to promote awareness of campus, local, and noteworthy national events which affects the student body; to promote the freedom of the press in the scholastic environment; to promote a forum for students and faculty to discuss issues relevant to the student body and faculty at large; all within the framework of this Constitution and bylaws in the rules, regulations, and policies of the college in the board of trustees.”
Upcoming events and public service projects for the Front Street Journal have not been finalized at this point. The Front Street Journal is always accepting submissions, take a look at the requirements here.
