Graduation is coming up, and many students are looking to apply their education to professional challenges. Now is the time to get those resumes out and go after that job you have been working toward.
On Wednesday, April 5, RACC Student Services is hosting its annual Job Fair from 10 am to 2 pm in the Student Union Building.
Over 40 local employers will be at the Job Fair to discuss career opportunities with RACC students and anyone seeking full-time or part-time work, whether seasonal employment or the beginning of a career.
Marlene Fares, Senior Academic Advisor and Career Development Specialist, emphasized the importance of the Job Fair in connecting students and residents with local resources.
“We are a community college,” Fares said, “and [we] need to keep that promise and serve our community.”
The Job Fair will host representatives from 45 companies located across Lehigh, Lancaster and Berks counties. Some of these companies include Deka, AARP and Security Guards, Inc.
All these big companies in one place may seem intimidating, but students will get an assist from RACC’s Career Services; there will be a special area to help students handle any last-minute nerves.
To be prepared, Fares recommends, participants should dress in neat, professional attire. Also, they should bring plenty of copies of equally professional-looking resumes to give to employers, as there will not be printers available at the fair.
Obtaining employment is a daunting task, but that work is made easier when RACC’s Career Services lends support.
